A Call to Prayer

Our times reflect a great reckoning in the soul of our society, with a host of anxious responses attending it. Christians are called in such times to pray ceaselessly for wisdom and courage to face the hour with faithfulness to Christ. Please join in praying the following collects from the Book of Common Prayer as we seek to live as Christians in the world.

In Time of Great Sickness and Mortality

O most mighty and merciful God, in this time of grievous sickness, we flee unto thee for succour. Deliver us, we beseech thee, from our peril; give strength and skill to all those who minister to the sick; prosper the means made use of for their cure; and grant that, perceiving how frail and uncertain our life is, we may apply our hearts unto that heavenly wisdom which leadeth to eternal life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

For Social Justice

Almighty God, who hast created man in thine own image; Grant us grace fearlessly to contend against evil, and to make no peace with oppression; and, that we may reverently use our freedom, help us to employ it in the maintenance of justice among men and nations, to the glory of thy holy Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

For Quiet Confidence

O God of peace, who hast taught us that in returning and rest we shall be saved, in quietness and in confidence shall be our strength; By the might of thy Spirit lift us, we pray thee, to thy presence, where we may be still and know that thou art God; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

An Invitation

We are using the current time of church disruption to cultivate our daily rhythms of prayer as a community. Through our daily participation in the liturgies of the church, we anchor ourselves in the peace of Christ and the security found only in him. We welcome you to join us daily for Morning Prayer at 7:30 am and Evening Prayer at 4:30 pm via BlueJeans video conferencing.
