Pre-Lenten Retreat
The Women of St. Matthew’s Church invite you to a pre-Lenten retreat.
A new Commandment give I unto you, that you love one another.
These words are part of Jesus’ final teaching to his disciples, the night of his betrayal. He continues by saying, “… just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another." (John 13:34-35)
In anticipation of the Feast of St. Valentine we will spend this retreat looking at love, its significance in Christ’s teachings and its mark on our lives; sorting out ways we can we live this ancient commandment in our modern lives.
As it is a pre-Lenten event, we have planned a getaway of fellowship and fun. Being a three-day weekend we will begin on Saturday and conclude Monday.
A charter bus will pick us at St. Matthew’s Church at 12:30 pm on Saturday, February the 11th , and return us by 3:30 pm on Monday, February the 13th .
On the way to the retreat house we will stop for a private tour of Saint Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Los Angeles. Our first meal will be dinner at the retreat house.
