Outreach

“Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these, my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” Matt. 25:40

As we worship at the Altar each week we pray that “our selves, our souls, and our bodies would be a … living sacrifice to God.” Outreach is one way we can offer ourselves back to God through service. At St. Matthew’s, we serve others in three primary ways:

1. Service to the local Church
Opportunities at the church include hospitality, volunteering with children and youth, serving as an usher and greeter on Sunday Mornings.

2. Service to the Community
Through parnterships with local charitable organizations, the people of St. Matthew's Church are able to serve God in an effective way in our community. Past service projects have included All Saint's Long Beach Soup Kitchen, Inner City Ministries of Long Beach, Food and School Supply Drives for Giving Children Hope.

3. Service to the World
In addition to working with The Missionary Society of St. Paul the Apostle, St. Matthew's has direct relationships with our missions in Haiti, Southern Sudan and Mexico.

St. Matthew's supports Military Chaplains that our connected to our parish. We supply them with food and goods which they are able to use as gifts to the people in their battalions.
