Children

Children's Ministry at St. Matthew's is based on that familiar passage in the book of Proverbs:

Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6

We seek to foster an environment that will raise up the next generation of worshipers. Our efforts are directed to instilling in them a strong understanding of Biblical truths and a distinctly Christian Worldview. This is accomplished by exposing them to the ancient liturgy, encouraging an environment of reverence. Our teachers are devoted adult members of our church who have a gift for working with children. Over time relationships develop and our children come to know church as a place where they feel valued and yet responsible for their own faith.

Nursery Care

Beginning at 8:30 AM on Sundays

St Matthew’s Nursery is staffed with two adult care providers. It is a safe, loving, and comfortable environment for infants and toddlers, up to three-year-olds.

Children's Liturgy of the Word

9:00 AM and 11:00 AM on Sunday Mornings

Designed for preschool through 5th grade Children’s Liturgy of the Word is conducted at the same time as our regular church services. Children learn elements of the Liturgy, the seasons of the church year, Bible memory verses and age appropriate songs. This prepares them for the day when they will worship in Church with their families. Our goal is confirm all children by fifth grade with a full participation in the liturgy by junior high school.

Sunday School

10:00 AM Sundays

At our Education Hour Children’s Ministry offers traditional classes for preschoolers through 5th grade. This Sunday school curriculum follows the traditional Anglican Church year, with sequential resource materials from the American Church Union.
