Sunday Services
We invite you to join us for our Holy Communion services, Bible Studies, and Education Hour. Click here to learn more about the liturgy and worship of a traditional Anglican church.
All of our Communion services follow the liturgy for Holy Communion found in the 1928 Book of Common Prayer (BCP 66 - 84).
Throughout Sunday morning, our patio is supplied with coffee, tea, and pastries where Visitors and Members alike can fellowship and get connected with the Ministries of St. Matthew's Church.
7:30 AM Holy Communion
This is a spoken mass that does not include any organ, choir, or hymns. As a quieter service, attendees benefit from a contemplative worship setting led by a priest or, occasionally, a deacon.
9:00 AM Holy Communion
At this service, you will hear the organ and choir at several points throughout the service, and hymns are corporately sung. Unlike our 11:00 AM service, this mass does not include incense or two musical additions by the choir. During this service, the children at the 9:00 AM Children's Church will file in to attend the Communion portion of the service.
10:00 AM Education Hour
A variety of options are available for education throughout the year. Seasonal courses, Bible Studies, confirmation classes, and Children's Sunday School are available. Check our Calendar item for Education Hour to see what is available.
11:00 AM Holy Communion
This service is our fullest liturgy, with choir, organ, hymns, and incense.
5:00 PM Holy Communion in Los Alamitos
Holy Communion on Sunday evenings is held at St. Andrew Anglican Catholic Church.
4050 Katella Avenue
Los Alamitos, California 90720
This contemplative service offers plainsong music sung by a chamber choir or soloist. The propers and anthems are selected from Saint Dunstan's Plainsong Psalter and the canon of sacred hymns dating back to the early church. The Old Testament lesson is read in addition to the Epistle and Gospel readings for the week set forth by the Book of Common Prayer. This service is followed by a light dinner and time for fellowship.
6:30 PM Bible Study
Fr. Mark Becher leads a Bible Study focusing on the themes of the season or the readings for the week. Those who attend this study benefit from an honest, casual discussion format that aims at the deep meaning of God's Word.
